Early last week, a team of eight Royal Marines commandos, including serving and former Marines set off for Norway by car for the N75 expedition. The team will travel the 2000 mile length of Norway using only kayaks and bikes; retelling heroic stories of WWII combined Commando raids. Over the course of the journey, the team will be linking up with local people and historical societies at each location, talking to those with a connection to events and building friendships along the way.
So, what’s all this in aid of? Well, the expedition will commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Telemark raids, the raids that ultimately served to thwart the Nazi’s nuclear programme. N75 will raise money in support of deserving ex-servicemen and their families in need of person. al assistance due to exceptional circumstances.
The expedition aims to promote good mental health, and any money raised will be used to develop the Royal Marines Support Hub at the Commando training centre in Devon. The Hub will provide practical and emotional support for Royal Marines, and is just one example of the Charity’s ongoing projects.
Where do we fit in? Back in May, two members of the N75 team came to Captec headquarters in Fareham, bringing along two support vehicles supplied by Jaguar Land Rover. They were met by representatives from our strategic partners, Dell EMC and Gamber-Johnson, who supplied a rugged tablet and an in-vehicle dock respectively.
